Live streaming from a phone is convenient when you’re on the go, and allows you to target a growing audience of people watching vertical live content. If you want to stream from your phone, Prism Live Studio is free to use, beginner-friendly, and great for mobile streaming. Here’s our guide on how to use Prism Live Studio to add overlays and multistream straight from your phone.
Prism Live Studio is a free live broadcasting software compatible for Android and Apple users. While offering a desktop version, Prism Live Studio is designed for mobile users – which is why it’s widely used by IRL streamers around the world, as well as members of our community here at overlays.uno.
Prism Live Studio has several useful features, like the ability to remove your background, add beauty filters, and offer text templates, chat integration, music playlists, and more. Plus, while the mobile app is designed for vertical streaming, you can easily swap over to horizontal streaming. You can also add URL sources as widgets – which means you can use online overlays in your live stream!
You can download Prism Live Studio directly to your phone from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
Once you’ve downloaded the app and signed up for an account, there are some things you should always prepare before going live. You need to stabilize your phone with a tripod to capture steady footage, and you may also need to invest in lighting. There are several ring light options available that clip or connect to your phone, designed specifically for streaming from your phone.
You can make your live stream look even better and improve production value by adding overlays to your layout. Overlays don’t just help highlight key points during your live stream. They cement your brand identity through consistent visual storytelling.
1. On overlays.uno, add the overlay you want to My Overlays. This will automatically redirect you to your overlays library. Find the tap the overlay to reveal the dropdown menu and select “Open” to open the online interface.
2. In the online interface, tap the Copy Output URL logo.
3. Go to the Prism Live Studio app, which should automatically be open to the preview window. Swipe from right to left to go to My Studio.
4. Tap on the Widget icon, then select “Web” from the list of sources.
5. Paste the overlay’s Output URL in the URL field, then tap on “Save”.
6. The overlay will automatically appear in your preview window. You can now drag, resize, and zoom in or out by using the translucent widget box.
Note: Adding an overlay to Prism Live only saves it as one of your widgets. It will not automatically appear in your preview window when you restart the app. You will have to swipe to My Studio and select the overlays’ box to reactivate it each time.
You can now add any other sources or features to your preview window to complete your layout. If you’re nervous about showing your face in a live stream, you can also try using Prism Live Studio’s VTuber function. You may need to adjust some overlays to avoid obstructing your avatar.
Now that your streaming layout is ready, here’s how to live stream from the phone app:
1. Press the Ready button.
2. Select from the list of streaming platforms available on Prism Live Studio and link your streaming accounts.
3. Start live broadcasting from your phone!
Tip: Remember to turn your phone to Do Not Disturb mode to avoid being interrupted by pesky notifications or calls.
With this guide you should be ready to create a fantastic vertical layout with uno overlays, and start streaming on Prism Live Studio.
